What is ODAAT?

 

ODAAT is one day at a time

 
It’s a movement
 
It’s a mindset
 
It’s a way of life.
 
It’s about focusing on today not worrying about the past or stressing about tomorrow
 
It’s about winning today because you know tomorrow will take care of itself 
 
I first started living by ODAAT when I was 17 years old. 
 
Back then I was trapped
I was lost
I felt absolutely and completely alone
And I couldn’t picture my life ever getting any better 
 
I decided to end it all 
 
Luckily when I grabbed my gun and cocked it back the bullet got stuck in the chamber
 
I went for a walk and something inside me told me to make a phone call 
 
I called my Nana and I’m forever grateful that she answered that call.
 
 She told me something that I’ll never forget.
 
 She told me all you can do is take life one day at a time. 
 
Those words stuck with me 
 
I took them literally, and when the dark thoughts would come in I would repeat them to myself.
 
I shifted my focus to today and my whole life changed.
 
It didn’t happen overnight, it took years of one day at a time but eventually, my life got better and better.
 
And it keeps getting better as long as I remember to life One day at a time
